History

The sport of motocross has been around for many years. The sport involved racing off the road motorcycles (or dirt bikes) around man made dirt tracks. The sport has made many advances and developments in superiority of both machine and track design over the years.

In 1994 filmmakers Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson had been accumulating footage to showcase a behind the scenes expose of the lifestyle of an American pro motocross rider in action, 145ft plus jumps, 45ft high in the air soaring over sand dunes, mountains, houses, buses and anything else secure and steep enough to hold the weight of bike and rider.

The end result was Fleshwound Films and the first video Crusty Demons of Dirt . The launch of this video was to change the face of motocross and create a sport that has become the most popular of all extreme sports today, Freestyle Motocross (FMX) .

History

SIKSPAK was spawned from the base of the wind-eroded hills of Ocotillo Wells. Growing up skateboarding has shaped us to rebel against conformity. We never liked the graphics kits that are just colored shapes and with only different pattern changes each year. It was not until SIKSPAK founder Eli Bowman decided to make his own custom sticker kits that SIKSPAK was discovered. He would go to a local printer who had a die-cut machine and get his custom sticker kits made. His first kit was a “Jack Daniel’s” kit. To protect the kit while on the bike, he bought clear 3M vinyl to put on top. Although this was quite a laborious task, he was able to represent his independent and non-conforming self while riding his bike.

Incense burns at the burial graves of the 47 Ronin at Sengaku-ji.
The revenge of the Forty-seven Ronin (四十七士 Shi-jū Shichi-shi?), also known as the Forty-seven Samurai, the Akō vendetta, or the Genroku Akō incident (元禄赤穂事件 Genroku akō jiken?) took place in Japan at the start of the eighteenth century. The tale has been described by one noted Japanese scholar as the country's "national legend." It recounts the most famous case involving the samurai code of honor, bushidō.
The story tells of a group of samurai who were left leaderless (became ronin) after their daimyo (feudal lord) was forced to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka, whose title was Kōzuke no Suke. The ronin avenged their master's honor after patiently waiting and planning for over a year to kill Kira. In turn, the ronin were themselves forced to commit seppuku — as they had known they would be — for committing the crime of murder. With little embellishment, this true story was popularized in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor that all good people should persevere in their daily lives. The popularity of the almost mythical tale was only enhanced by rapid modernization during the Meiji era of Japanese history, when many people in Japan longed for a return to their cultural roots.
While sources do differ as to some of the details, the version given below was carefully assembled from a large range of historical sources, including some still-extant eye-witness accounts of various portions of the saga.
Fictionalized accounts of these events are known as Chūshingura. The story was popularized in numerous plays including bunraku and kabuki; because of the censorship laws of the shogunate in the Genroku era which forbade portrayal of current events, the names were changed. While the version given by the playwrights may have come to be accepted as historical fact by some, the Chūshingura was written some 50 years after the fact; and numerous historical records about the actual events that pre-date the Chūshingura survive. The popularity of the story is high still today. With ten different television productions in the years 1997–2007 alone, the Chūshingura ranks among the most familiar of all stories in Japan.
The bakufu's censorship laws had relaxed somewhat 75 years later, when Japanologist Isaac Titsingh first recorded the story of the 47 ronin as one of the significant events of the Genroku era.

The shop, which was called 305 Ink (with 305 being a reference to the Miami area code) before the show started is co-owned by tattoo artists Ami James and Chris Núñez, and also features artists Chris Garver, Darren Brass, and Yoji Harada. Californian artists James "Sword-Crosser" Hamilton, Luke Wessman, Mikey Slater and JMorgwn Pennypacker and 2 floor managers Guy Sahar and Lee "On One Knee" Rodriguez joined the shop during the first season while Brass had an injured arm. Kat Von D became a full time crew member for two seasons, after which she was fired and then returned to Los Angeles and landed her own Miami Ink spin-off entitled LA Ink which premiered in August 2007. Another spinoff, London Ink began on Discovery Real Time in the UK in September 2007. On October 28, 2008, a third spin-off, called Rio Ink, featuring a Rio de Janeiro tattooshop, aired on the Discovery Channel People & Arts channel in Brazil.

The shop is owned by tattoo artist Kat Von D, who formerly starred on Miami Ink. In 2007, after a falling out with Miami Ink owner Ami James, Kat left the show and returned to Los Angeles, where she opened 'High Voltage' Tattoo and was offered a spin-off show. Artists Corey Miller, Hannah Aitchison, Kim Saigh, and Kat's best friend Pixie Acia who managed the shop were all featured on LA Ink.
Pixie left her job as manager at High Voltage Tattoo and left the show toward the end of Season 2, after an argument between her and other cast members who claimed that she wasn't doing her work around the shop.
